Thank you both for a fantastic week in La Borie. We’ve been made to feel so incredibly welcome, and considering our party included five children, it’s helped to make a thoroughly relaxing holiday.

The Gites are perfect for big families or groups, the kitchens are well equipped…and the pool! Wow! If we needed anything, Bryony and Stephen were just next door, and had lots of useful advice for where to go and what to do whenever we asked. With fresh croissants just a ten minute walk into the village and great little lakeside restaurant a further five minutes down the road, we were very spoilt indeed!

Our stay which included ages from 8 to 85, was perfect in all ways, particularly in the small matters such as; the offer on arrival of tea or coffee and a tin of home made biscuits, in the kitchen was a small assortment of provisions to cover immediate needs. Accommodation met all needs, a fully furnished kitchen with all the necessary appliances, tables both inside and shaded outside for dining, comfortable sofas in the living room for relaxing: sleeping arrangements could not have been better covering all family requirements.

Outside the nearby swimming pool was used by everyone, included water toys and equipment for water polo, with loungers and parasols for relaxing in the shade. The brochure provided on arrival, gave details of many of the surrounding venues worth visiting and distances to get there.

In summary: the detail that our hosts Bryony and Stephen went to, ensured a marvellous holiday for all of us.

We loved our stay at La Borie Gites. We took both Gites which worked very well as there were 11 of us including grandparents. The accommodation is excellent: numerous bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, and very pleasant outdoor dining area with BBQ.

The owners are lovely and could not have done more to help and make us feel welcome. The surrounding area is very pretty and the booklet provided (and which we were able to take home with us), provided us with lots of recommendations of things to do. The village is within walking distance, and has a lovely pop up restaurant serving really good food by the lake which is great for kids.

The pool is lovely, very well maintained and at the perfect temperature. There are lights for night time swimming which was very welcome on the hotter days. There are lots of outdoor games (including swings/trampoline, and ping pong), to try, including pool inflatables. There are walking/cycling paths close to the gite taking you through attractive woods.

We particularly appreciated the almost total absence of rules and regulations, (which can sometimes make you feel like you are walking on eggshells), and which contributed to a very relaxing stay. We hope to make a return visit soon.

We had a fabulous week at La Borie. The accommodation suited us down to the ground, housing our two families. The location is superb for exploring the stunning surroundings and the La Borie facilities were wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed swimming and relaxing by the pool, cricket and rounders in the paddock and hide and seek in the orchard. The local village has a great boulangerie and the food at the restaurants both by the lake and in the village centre were amazing. Steve and Bryony were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

Just returned from spending a wonderful week at La Borie gites. Certainly a cut above others that we have stayed in. Received a very warm welcome from the owners who helped us settle in very quickly. All of the facilities were truly excellent especially the swimming pool when temperatures climbed to over 30 degrees. If it a relaxing week you are after with plenty of good restaurants and places to see, then these Gites are right up there and worthy of consideration.

A group visit using both gites, where space and if you wanted solitude, was never an issue. Both gites are well appointed with full self-catering facilities and a bathroom for every bedroom, either en-suite or family for use by the family room users.

Whilst the weather often leads to positive reviews especially when you go somewhere “for the weather”, it would be hard to say anything negative about La Borie Gites, their owners & co-hosts, the local villages and places to visit and all together “nice feel”. Visitors are provided sole access to the excellent swimming pool, their own private terrace and BBQ area, and ample parking. The hosts can recommend canoe trips on local rivers or river cruises for the less energetic, and there is ample space for children to run around within safe boundaries around the property.

Table tennis, boule, swings and even a trampoline are there for the young family members whilst the older visitors will enjoy comfy recliners around the heated pool just yards from their Gites. Less than hour away you are able to visit vineyards, excellent dining and superb markets perhaps synonymous with rural France. Of course self-catering allows you to sample produce and home cooking or whatever takes your fancy.

Access by air travel is easy for UK travellers especially from the south east, with flights from Stansted or London City to Bergerac about an hour from La Borie, and from Southend to Bordeaux around two and a half hours of easy driving away.

A definite return in the future is on the cards!

We’ve just had a wonderful holiday at La Borie, where the two gîtes were ideal for an extended family. The gîtes are in excellent condition with well-equipped kitchens, comfortable living areas and bedrooms, with a generous five bathrooms. The covered areas at the front are ideal for family BBQs. A lovely surprise was the size of the outdoor areas with pretty gardens, play areas and extensive grounds for ball games, alongside the good-sized swimming pool. Bryony and Steve are delightful hosts who have struck a perfect balance of being quietly in the background, but ready on hand to sort any problems (not that there were any) and offer advice on the local area.

The gîtes are in a beautiful location on the Dordogne/Lot border. Surrounded by rolling hills and forest, they are still only a 10 minute walk from the pretty village of Frayssinet, where there is a bar, a cafe and an excellent boulangerie. There is plenty to do in the area from kayaking, river swimming and walking, to visiting some of the beautiful medieval villages and castles in the Dordogne valley to the north. We will definitely be returning next year and hope to explore the Lot valley to the south and return to the nearby vineyards with their excellent wine.
